Keeping Score… there WILL be a Winner.
Kids are never too young to keep score. I get that there are no goalies and that half the time the kids are scoring on themselves… but whatever. There must be a winner… there must! My kids, along with so many others, are growing up in a culture that congratulates them for just “being.” Forget that! I remember when there were two sets of trophies - big ones full of awesome for the first place team and small little weenie ones for the second place team. It sucked being second.
Now they just give out little weenie trophies to everybody. What!? Who wants one of those. Okay, maybe Atticus still likes getting the trophy and all. And maybe he and the others would cry if the other team got big trophies and they got small ones… or none at all. But isn’t that life. Isn’t that what makes winning great?
